Hello to everyone,
AL’s RIDE is moving forward for 2017, we have had to revise the date which will now be Saturday the 8th of April, 2017.
We hope you have all enjoyed a safe and relaxing Christmas and New Year, as our faithful participants and supporters, we firstly wish to apologise for any inconvenience. You deserve to be bought up to date with everything that has been happening behind the scenes. AL’s RIDE, until now has been organised and run as an event of the National Motorcycle Alliance (previously the NSW Motorcycle Alliance) The Alliance is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering national Roadside Assistance to riders, and continual improvements for everyone involved in motorcycling including individual riders, social clubs, and the entire motorcycle industry. Really worthwhile roadside assistance too!
As we have grown (and learnt) to through our events thus far, to remove an added layer of administration and to allow the National Motorcycle Alliance to concentrate on their core business we are in the process of establishing AL’s RIDE as an entity in it’s own right. This entire process is definitely not simple and straight forward plus we are committed to getting it right from the start which means delays to ensure, where possible, that every facet runs as smoothly as possible from registration to leaving the nights event and looking forward to doing it all again.
There was also a major hockey tournament on our initial date in early March and there will always be something else going on which will impact some participants so here is hoping that the 8th of April will interfere less, be kinder in weather and a little more time for us guys.
Get in touch if you have any questions or feel you can contribute or help in any way.
Regards from the Admin Team.
Ladies and Gents, Boys and Girls. In 2017 AL’s RIDE will take place on Saturday the 11th of March. Put a note on your calendar and tell your friends to get involved and have a great time.
A little bit later this year to hopefully get perfect weather and work in with rather than clash with the event held by the Classic Enthusiast Motorcycle Club of Orange which is really worth a look at for anyone keen on all forms of motorcycling.
On Saturday 20th February, 126 registered riders and drivers plus one registered pillion set on our 2016 AL’s RIDE. With further pillion riders and passengers in cars totalling 169.
All the rides were enjoyed with no majors problems experienced and minor distractions/delays limited to my flat tyre on the Bundanoon to Bathurst Ride together with some minor misdirection leading to a jaunt along a dirt road. Regardless, everyone arrived in Bathurst safe, well and in good spirits. A big thanks for the assistance provided with lunch enroute by The Clubhouse Hotel at Rockley, The Rylstone Hotel at Rylstone and The Tourist Hotel in Oberon. Great meals at each location so if you’re travelling in the area don’t forget to support and enjoy these establishments.
Local Bathurst Police and Highway Patrol then assisted our rider, drivers and Bathurst locals by assisting our group to ride as one unit along Havannah Street to Mount Panorama where everyone had the chance to experience this landscape and be part of the AL’s RIDE 2016 group photo.
We had hoped to have a final figure for the monies raised by now but unfortunately a few of the accounts have been slow to arrive, a number of other events have taken up time and some shortage of personal available to process all these accounts and pieces of information have conspired to delay our final figures being established and these funds progressing to our charities.
We must make special mention to Brett MORGAN who organised the donation of the bike lift by Levanta Superior Workshop Solutions. This top quality equipment raised a further $1625-00 for our cause.
Travel safe, Keith
